What does a Home Inspection Entail and Why We Ask for One? |
|
While most adopters are
truthful people we have run across some who are not. For example, we
have some dogs that require a fenced yard. Upon a visit we occasionally
find it turns out to be a pen or we have been told the adopter has a
fenced yard and volunteers have later found the animal tied to a
tree. When a family does not have a fence, we verify the animal will not
be endangered by a busy highway or road along the front of the home or
apartment. Our President has asked us to do a home visit or a vet reference and sometimes both. If the potential adopter does not have a fence and we do a vet reference and if it is to our satisfaction there is no point in doing a home visit in many cases. We are sorry about any inconvenience this may cause to the good adopters but to be totally on the safe side we feel this is best so that all of our pets will get the proper home. With people with children we like to see how the child is going to respond to the pet in their own environment. |
